We have just been alerted to the fact that  Coloplast has agreed to pay about $16 million to settle its  vaginal mesh lawsuits. Coloplast agreed to resolve about 400 vaginal mesh lawsuits over the Prolene  mesh implants for POP and SUI.

This  settlement is said to  have an average payment of about $40,000 for each of the injured women. We are not excited about this pay out considering the horrific extent of the injuries women have suffered from these trans vaginal mesh products.

Other vaginal mesh manufactuters in the West Virginia MDL’s include: Boston Scientific, Ethicon, American Medical Systems (AMS), and C.R. Bard.

The  U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigations, Judge Goodwin reports that  there are  currently  over 7,617 Boston Scientific mesh, 12,992 Ethicon mesh, 13,292 American Medical Systems (AMS) mesh, and 6,172 Bard Avaulta mesh cases.

Bard, Endo and Boston Scientific are in discussions about settling  their vaginal-mesh and bladder sling  lawsuits in  a global settlement. Coloplast is  settling mesh cases  thru individual plaintiffs’ lawyers.
