A Texas couple is seeking compensation for vaginal mesh complications that have allegedly caused them physical, emotional and financial hardship.

Donna and Ernest Painter vs. American Medical Systems, Inc. was filed by a vaginal mesh lawyer on Nov. 30, 2011 in the U.S. District Court, Western District of Texas (San Antonio). Donna Painter allegedly suffered infection and inflammation, tissue abrasion and other severe adverse health consequences after receiving a vaginal mesh implant. The Painters are seeking more than $75,000 in compensation for vaginal mesh complications.
Lawsuit demands compensation for vaginal mesh complications

Vaginal mesh is a synthetic surgical material used to support organs and tissues that tend to drop in patients suffering from pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and stress urinary incontinence (SUI). Some patients, however, have sought transvaginal mesh lawsuit settlements after reporting that mesh transplants can irritate the conditions they were designed to help.

Plaintiffs seeking compensation for vaginal mesh complications have reported side effects including pain, urinary tract infections, transvaginal mesh extrusion into the vagina, and erosion of the mesh into the urethra, bladder or rectum. These side effects have led many to consult a vaginal mesh lawyer to see if they are eligible to pursue transvaginal mesh lawsuit settlements.

As with other lawsuits seeking compensation for vaginal mesh complications, the Painters accuse American Medical Systems (AMS) of failing to warn users of the risks associated with vaginal mesh implants.

According to the Painters’ vaginal mesh lawyer, AMS assured users the vaginal mesh system was safe when the company was aware that it was damaging some patients. The Painters also claim AMS made misrepresentations to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) concerning the system’s safety, design and efficiency.
